Connect every technique back to a genuine application. Build a small portfolio of projects you can defend and explain — that body of work, more than any marksheet, is what supervisors and employers will remember.

Your project or dissertation brings everything together — tools, models, and reading — into one piece of work that is unmistakably yours. Start with a clear, focused question, plan your data and methods early, and write as you go.

Expect detours; scope will shift and data will surprise you. What examiners value is clarity of thought: a question well-framed, a method well-justified, and conclusions honestly drawn.
